Rocky Nesbitt takes a vision and makes it a reality. With a keen ability to use sound project management principles, practices and solutions this goal oriented young man will get the job done.
His respect of time management affords him to deftly navigate his way through complex systems while gaining the support and cooperation of stakeholders in order to drive a project to a successful completion. As a self motivated, results driven professional, Nesbitt has gained over 13 years’ experience in the public and private sectors covering diversified areas including project management, national development, foreign direct investment, national security, and academic and technical education.
Previously, as Project Coordinator in the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), he had responsibility for several projects in the ambit of the Over-the-Hill Community Development Initiative (OTHCDI) Program, a plan put forth by the Most Honourable Hubert A. Minnis, M.P., Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. The initiative was designed to restore and transform the environs and improve the socio-economic conditions of the Bain Town, Grant’s Town and Centreville residents. He effectively implemented and managed the rejuvenation, social and economic empowerment and the smart technology projects relating to the White Paper on the OTHCDI in the targeted communities.
He also served a pivotal role as a project team member with the Bahamas Investment Authority, a unit in the OPM that has administrative oversight for the National Economic Council (NEC) which is a sub-committee of Cabinet Ministers that makes decisions on foreign direct investment (FDI) applications. At this position, he had responsibility for the management of brownfield and greenfield FDI projects, coordinated project inspection site visits and town hall meetings on New Providence and the Family Islands.
Nesbitt began his career in Government as an educator in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and progressed in academia to the position of Lecturer in the Training Institute of the Bahamas Department of Corrections. He has extensive experience in the Technology Industry having worked as a business consultant and is an expert media strategist.
He currently lectures business, criminal justice and communication disciplines at Southern College.
Rocky holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University, BA in Criminal Justice from Florida Memorial University, a Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Certificate in Policy Cycle Management (PCM) and is currently pursuing a Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional certification. He is President of the “Marathon Cares” a non-profit organization that assists and supports the residence in the Marathon area.
