The Agro Food Processing Unit was established in 2010 to assist young budding entrepreneurs and the public at large. The Unit’s mission is to support the growth of the local food industry through the utilization of indigenous and local crops and thereby process new and existing food products.

The Unit assists entrepreneurs by providing educational training, workshops and assistance in the following areas:-

  • Product Development
  • Product Safety & Food Sanitation
  • Bar Codes & Food Nutritional Values

2013 WORK PROGRAMME:

The Unit is in communication with several food processing source agencies, such as Inter-American Institute for Co-operation on Agriculture (IICA) and the University of Nebraska.  These agencies will bring expertise, training and knowledge to the Food Processing Unit in particular, and to the many Bahamians that will be trained in this venture.
